Getting to the Root of Your Fertility Problem
If you are experiencing a fertility problem, for your own sake you need a diagnosis. It is medically important to understand why you are unable to conceive. There are many reasons for fertility problems, it may help you to know what they are. Some of the factors that may have an effect on your fertility include your age and genetics. For example, women have less of a chance of getting pregnant as they get older. Age is not the only problem that may lead to infertility and some women can get pregnant well after age 40.
There may be another reason why you may be infertile and that may be because of a condition you were born with. This is called a congenital birth defect and is something you cannot control. Other reasons why infertility occurs include exposure to high levels of toxins such as those in the environment or those during radiation or chemotherapy for cancer treatment. Even toxins you were exposed to while you were in the womb can effect your own fertility. There are so many different reasons why you may be infertile.
There may also be other factors that can make it hard to get pregnant, that you can influence and control. For example, excessive alcohol and marijuana use is associated with decreased fertility. Also, having intercourse during ovulation at the times when it is most likely to result in pregnancy can also help you conceive. You want to make sure to eat a healthy diet and stay at a healthy weight, women who are too muscular and/or thin may not even menstruate, thus resulting in infertility until the problem is taken care of.
The best way to find out why you are having fertility problems is visit your doctor and let him carry out the normal tests that will tell him the reason for your difficulty with fertility. There will be an exam performed and probably blood tests run to determine the cause of the problem. If you are a couple who is trying to conceive both partners will be tested for infertility causes. After test results come back your doctor will sit down with both of you and discuss them. From there, you can determine which, if any fertility inducing measures you are going to take. If you cannot solve your fertility problem or don't want to take fertility drugs or go through in vitro fertilization, consider adoption as a way to have the baby you want.
